I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little about me. I grew up in Alton, Illinois which is located right outside of St. Louis, Missouri. I attended college at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and completed my Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in art. After finishing school, I just felt as though my heart had always been in Cosmetology and it was something I needed to pursue. Luckily my parents were very supportive of me following my dreams and I enrolled in cosmetology school in my hometown. I knew right away I had found my career path. I completed cosmetology school and worked at a salon in Alton for a couple of years and then followed my family up to the Madison area. I landed in an amazing salon in Madison and worked there for 12 years. I was able to grow so much as a stylist and perfected my skill. I feel so grateful and lucky to be able to have a career that I truly enjoy and look forward to.

Where did Magnolia Beauty Studio Get its name?

My mom was a florist and after many years of working at different flower shops, she finally decided to open her very own shop. It was called Magnolia’s Flowers and Gifts. Named loosely after me, I was sometimes called Magnolia as a nickname for Maggie. I had the good fortune of working there for many years while I was in school and have so many fond memories of being there. It was in a beautiful old two story colonial style house built in 1858 with a huge front porch and giant ferns hanging out front. We got to be a part of so many special occasions and weddings and I have nothing but good memories of that place. I’m so proud of my mom for taking that leap and opening her own shop. I guess I am following in her footsteps and the name was just fitting.
